Given my time in the work force, I’ve experienced the inspirational filled mornings where putting together a look resembles the Cinderella moment where the fairy godmother taps and a beautiful gown materializes. Also like most, there are days when for some reason my closet transforms into a worthless collection of clothes that seeks to torment me. After all, how is it possible for me to find what to wear in 5 seconds one day and nothing on another day? The capability of my closet to compel joy one day and anger/stress the next led me to the transformation conclusion. Of course my perception of my closet may play a roll in this so called transformation, but nonetheless the feelings are real. A while back I noticed that while I battled through my “don’t know what to wear” mornings, my husband would calmly walk into his closet, pick a suit, a tie and shirt to match. In fact, I don’t recall a day where his closet converts into unwearable pieces. At first I disregarded his system as unfeasible; it only works if you wear a suit everyday I thought. One day out of shear desperation, combined with my inability to wake up on time, I kindly asked my husband to assemble my a look for me. Shockingly, his first pick impressed me so that I maintained him as my stylist for a week. Throughout the week I noticed that his mechanism for dressing me was akin to how he dresses himself. Each of my looks consisted of four pieces like his suit, tie and shirt. He swapped a tie for a statement necklace, his suit for a statement top or bottom always balanced with a neutral and of course a blazer or cardigan. Believe it or not that week inspired me to create uniforms similar to my husband’s suiting for which I’m thankful for everyday I accidentally or intentionally turn off my alarm clock.
The building block of my uniforms = statement necklace, statement top or bottom balanced with a neutral, and blazer.
Here’s what happened when I committed to a week of wearing my uniforms. It goes without mentioning, the uniforms assured a stress-free morning routine every day.
