In part 1 of the “Why you Need a Jumpsuit ASAP” series I explained my reasoning for labeling the jumpsuit as a closet staple and offered evidence on why a jumpsuit could save you from another late arrival to the office after a raucous night out. In the second part of the series, I will make the case for why your weekend nights out stand much to gain from owning said item of clothing.
It’s Friday night, you are laying on the couch prepared for a night of binge watching your favorite show while washing down popcorn and chocolate with red wine. Right as you are about to turn on the TV, your phone buzzes, you hesitate to see who it is, in case they have news that could disrupt your magical evening ahead. After a moment, you reconsider and check your phone. It’s your BFF announcing her latest triumph. Through some nameless god she has managed to snag seats at an impossible to get seated restaurant and obviously she wants you to join her in 20 minutes.
Now you are torn between responding with the, “Sorry can’t, bra is off” and “I’m in and I’m so happy I’m friends with someone way cooler than me”. Because let’s be honest, there are few things worse than a call for immediate glamor; especially when the bra is off and the pajamas are on. However, of course you say yes, not just because you love your friend but because you’ve been dying to try those brussels sprouts. So you drag yourself from your comfy couch, hobble your way to your closet and stare blankly.
What you need is a simple piece that can be easily accessorized because you don’t have the brain power to conjure up a complex outfit on such little notice. So you reach for your black jumpsuit which had saved you earlier that week from showing up late to work. Note to self to drop that bad boy at the dry cleaning after this wear. It’s pretty much a blank slate allowing you to dress it up with your loudest accessories and voilà you are dinner ready.
Here is what a night out in a black jumpsuit would look like for me. With a low plunging neckline, I love to use my bra as an accessory, in this case pink is perfect. Nothing makes me happier than clashing accessories, my mint heels and clutch are the perfect contrast to the pink bra. I finish off the look with a simple necklace and a double ring.
