In part 1 and part 2 of the “Why You Need a Jumpsuit ASAP” series I covered the importance of a jumpsuit in relation to work attire and going-out attire. On this third and final part of the jumpsuit series I showcase how the jumpsuit and this spring’s favorite trend are a match made in heaven. The denim jacket serves the purpose of making outfits casual; at least for me. I’m convinced that you could be wearing a sequined dress at a black tie event, throw on a denim jacket over it and walk over to a basketball game. Not a Beyoncé and Blue Ivy seats NBA basketball game. I’m talking about your girlfriend’s rec league basketball game where the bleachers creak every time you jump to cheer her on. This makes the multitasking jumpsuit the perfect companion for your denim jacket.
Now I know you’re probably thinking, my denim jacket goes with everything so why do I need a jumpsuit to wear it? So imagine this. You’ve just walked into your apartment straight from work and Lisa Leslie texts you to join her for a quick pick up game, and you have to be there in 5 minutes. How do you know Lisa Leslie? Because like Kanye, “your life is dope and you do dope shit”. Anyway I digress. You have to meet Lisa Leslie in 3 minutes from now and your athleisure game is far from being on point.
You look down at your loafers and your stuffy jacket, shake your head, and now you have one minute. You kick off your loafers and run to your closet and jump into your super cool Vans high tops. You throw off your jacket and reach for your denim jacket because it is your superpower for making anything casual. Voilà you are basketball court ready. Now you really couldn’t do the same thing with pants, you need a top for that. I rest my case. Go buy a jumpsuit now.
Here’s what I would wear to meet Lisa Leslie if she came out of retirement just to play with me.
